Ron Snyder

Mr. Ron Snyder is a master instructor with Iowa Central Community College, an academic partner of the RDPC.

Mr. Snyder, MEd., CET, serves as the director of programs for Environmental Health and Safety in the Environmental Training Center, the AgPreparedness Center and Hazardous Materials Training and Research Institute, all located on the campus of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He is currently a member of the Board of Certification for the National Environmental Safety and Health Trainers Association and the Relations Board for OSHA Education Training Centers and the OSHA Training Institute. He is also a member of the committee for trainer requirements and certifications for Training and Exercise Integration under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within the Department of Homeland Security.

Recognized as an expert in emergency response and environmental health and safety, Mr. Snyder designs, coordinates and delivers programs across the nation to state and local governments, military Civil Support Teams, as well as to public and industrial sector first responders. He has developed national training programs for the Department of Homeland Security that focus on response to foreign animal disease outbreaks through either natural events or terrorist events.

Mr. Snyder played a significant role in the development of the OSHA Disaster Site Worker program modeled after his curriculum designed for response to CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, energetic/explosives) terrorist events. In addition, Mr. Snyder works with the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences in worker and responder safety and was active with his teams deployed in the Katrina response and recovery efforts in Mississippi and Louisiana as a FEMA affiliate in 2005.

Mr. Snyder has a master’s degree in adult education. He is a Certified Environmental Trainer, an authorized instructor for all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training programs, an authorized instructor in FEMA Incident Command/NIMS (National Incident Management System) and an authorized instructor for the Department of Justice Weapons of Mass Destruction program.
