Mr. Bob Dewald is a 40-year veteran of law enforcement, security, and emergency planning and response activities, including 26 years as an Air Force (AF) Security Forces officer. Before entering the military, he graduated from the J.C. Stone Memorial Police Academy in Orlando, FL and served as a police officer in both Florida and Georgia.

In the Air Force, he served as installation chief of law enforcement and security on 3 occasions routinely planning for various emergency contingencies. He led numerous response and recovery actions for disasters both In the U.S. and overseas. These include the 1996 terrorist bombing at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, Hurricane Opal in Florida, several major floods in Korea, and numerous aircraft accidents. He earned 2 AF Humanitarian Service Medals for his actions.

Mr. Dewald serves as a disaster service volunteer for the American Red Cross in East Tennessee. He specializes as government liaison to state and local emergency operations centers (EOC). This includes organizing Red Cross shelter plans in case of a nuclear accident at the Department of Energy’s and the Tennessee Valley Authority’s nuclear facilities in East Tennessee. For the Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR), he volunteers as a Disaster Planning and Response Coach for the Southeastern Synod, covering parts of 4 states.

In 1976, Mr. Dewald earned a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. In 1994, he earned a M.A. degree in Management from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. In 2013, he earned a MAS degree from Denver University in Security Management with a focus on Emergency Planning and Response. While in the AF, he completed several emergency response related courses including the senior on-scene commander course.
