Mr. M. Chris Herring is a master instructor with North Carolina Central University, an academic partner of the RDPC.
Mr. Herring has more than 29 years of experience in the public safety field as a practitioner, professor and consultant. He currently serves as the executive director of the Institute for Homeland Security and Workforce Development and visiting professor at North Carolina Central University. He has progressed through the public safety field as a public safety officer, police sergeant and parking control coordinator, support services manager, director of the North Carolina Center for Community Policing, and police chief.
For more than 24 years, Mr. Herring has taught at the college level in the disciplines of fire, criminal justice, public administration and sociology. He has served as an independent consultant, providing training to numerous communities and law enforcement agencies throughout the US. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science and holds masters degrees in public administration, sociology, human sciences, and divinity. Mr. Herring is currently pursuing a doctorate of ministry degree. He serves as associate pastor of International Ministries at the Cup of Salvation Deliverance Church in Durham, NC.
