Jerry Wells

Mr. Jerry Wells is a master instructor with Eastern Kentucky University, an academic partner of the RDPC.

Mr. Wells is a thirty-two year law enforcement veteran having served two years with the Western Kentucky University Police Department and thirty years with the Bowling Green, Kentucky Police Department. During his notable law enforcement career, Mr. Wells moved through the ranks from police officer to deputy chief of police. He retired in 2006 after serving several months as the interim chief of police.

A Kentucky Law Enforcement Council certified instructor since 1993, Mr. Wells has taught and lectured for the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training, the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police, the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association, the Kentucky Regional Community Policing Institute and many other agencies. Examples of topics he has presented include: Critical Incident Planning; Terrorism Awareness for Communities; Hate Crimes in America; Leadership; Managing Change; and Investigative Methods for Public Employees.

Mr. Wells holds a bachelor of arts degree in history and government from Western Kentucky University, a master of science degree in criminal justice administration from Eastern Kentucky University, and a doctor of education degree in leadership from Spalding University. Mr. Wells also attended the Secret Service VIP Dignitary Protection Seminar in Washington, D.C., the FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Virginia and the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. He is active in many civic organizations and is widely recognized for his dedication to his chosen profession and his community.
