Captain Jay Tillerson is an instructor with Eastern Kentucky University, an academic partner of the RDPC.
Captain Jay Tillerson has been with the University of Texas (UT) at Arlington Police Department since 1995 and a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) instructor since 2001. He received Master Peace Officer Certification in 2008 and has taught classes on Oleoresin Capsicum/Aerosol Subject Restraint (OC/ASR), defensive tactics, expandable baton, radar, Lidar, law enforcement mobile video, and emergency vehicle operations.
Captain Tillerson has been an accident investigator for the UT at Arlington Police Department since 2001. He has completed intermediate, advanced accident investigation, and basic reconstruction training.
Captain Tillerson is a member of the Texas Association of College and University Police Administrators and actively participates in establishing training curriculum for its members. He is a 2007 graduate of the FBI National Academy (228th class) and has completed level one of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.
Captain Tillerson’s experience as a police officer and commander includes recruitment, conducting background investigations, working in internal affairs, and training. Special projects he has been assigned include planning for large scale events and VIP security details, patrol operations, communications, parking services, transportation, key control, accreditation, property and evidence, crime prevention, accident reconstruction, and vehicle maintenance and supply, including the purchasing of specialized vehicles.
