Mr. Ethan Beckcom is a master instructor with Northwest Arkansas Community College, an academic partner of the RDPC.
Currently the emergency and risk manager for the NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC), Mr. Beckcom is responsible for developing and implementing institution-wide programs and projects that promote business continuity, disaster planning, training, mitigation, response, prevention and recovery for all-hazards. In addition, Mr. Beckcom has been tasked as the project manager to establish the Arkansas Business Emergency Operations Center for the state of Arkansas, a collaboration point for the private sector during a disaster. Most recently, he was as a course developer for the Institute for Corporate Safety (ICPS), conducting research, developing and delivering emergency/disaster management and business continuity training throughout the nation.
Prior to his time at NWACC, Mr. Beckcom served as the project manager with the Benton County Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security in Benton County Arkansas. He assisted in the coordination of several hundred emergency responders, was involved in over a dozen state and federal disasters, and managed a multi-million dollar homeland security grants program.
Mr. Beckcom started his career at Cura Emergency Services in Dallas, Texas as an incident manager. Over the years he has been tasked with various appointments within the emergency management community, including the assistant emergency manager for the Brazos River Authority, regional president for the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), and the Benton County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) chairman. He also sat on the Disaster Roundtable of the National Academies and served as an adjunct professor for the Northwest Arkansas Community College.
Mr. Beckcom holds a bachelor of science degree in emergency administration and management from Arkansas Tech University, as well as numerous professional certifications in emergency management, including the Emergency Management Institute, Professional Continuity Planner (PCP).
