Rural Homeland Security Resources for Local Officials

What Information and Funding Resources are available for Local Governments in Rural Communities? The USDA Rural Information Center (USDA RIC) can provide you with valuable information. Local governments are actively engaged in safeguarding America’s homeland and rural heartland. Many of the nation’s major facilities that require upgraded security include dams, power plants, chemical plants and weapon stockpiles located throughout the immense areas of the nation’s rural heartland. Local officials need additional information and funding resources for planning emergency preparedness, implementing, and managing higher security levels, providing equipment and training for emergency first responders, and providing recovery assistance.
